The Intown Food Pantry is the emergency food program of Intown Cares and is located at DHPC. The Pantry is supported by congregations, individuals, businesses, and organizations in zip codes 30306 and 30307 and beyond. The Pantry aims to help alleviate hunger by providing nutritious food and social service information to those who need them. We also strive to give people opportunities for personal and spiritual growth through meaningful service.
DHPC members and friends who are interested in serving hungry neighbors may bring food donations any time the church office is open. Donations may be left in the basket behind the back pew of the sanctuary. Donations are delivered to the food pantry by a DHPC volunteer. All donations are welcome. DHPC is primarily responsible for the donations of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, condiment packets, sugar packets, and macaroni and cheese. However, all donations are welcome.
Though large quantity donations can be divided into smaller packages, single-serving items are helpful for individuals living on the street who have no food storage facilities. Additionally, self-opening containers that do not require can openers are particularly helpful.
The food pantry is open for neighbors in need on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
